The bamboo tray was our hero piece in the Autumn 23 box. The combination of neutral bamboo and black exterior creates a unique look that's both modern and timeless. Carrying the tray is safe and easy with the 2 handle cut-outs so it's ideal for serving beverages.
Trays of course have very practical uses such as carrying tea cups and serving food, but have you considered decorative uses too? Here are five suggestions for using your tray. I’m sure you will think of many more.
1. Coffee table, dining table or kitchen island.
The size and shape of the tray should complement the space. If you have a tiny coffee table, the round tray may be better suited to the dining table or kitchen island. perfect for a pleasing display that is easily moved when having a meal or homework needs to be done.
Uneven numbers of items are more appealing to the eye. Remember the rule of 3 when styling. For this tray a group of 3 items is likely to be suffice. A larger tray could have 5 or 7 items
Pick items of varied heights. Visually it is important to balance or stagger them i.e., by not placing all small things to one side. It is also important to vary textures and shapes. Natural elements such as flowers, plant, twigs, fruit – fresh or faux bring life and colour.
Candles create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Hunt around the house for ornaments, glass jars, small books for height, trinket boxes and anything else that appeals. It may not be possible to get the arrangement right first time. Move things around and swap about until it pleases you.
2. Create a coffee station beside the kettle or your coffee maker. Add a pretty cannister for coffee or pods. Display your favourite mugs instead of hiding them away in a cupboard. Stand teaspoons in a glass. Add a decorative bowl for sugar or sweeteners.
3. If you are a keen cook why not use the tray to store essentials by the stove top. The Autumn planter is a great size to store utensils. Oil can be bought or stored in attractive glass bottles, condiments can be displayed alongside fresh herbs in a pot or jug.
4. The guest room can be made more inviting with pretty items, essentials or treats to make your visitors feel welcome. For example, bottles of water, tissues, body lotion, a fragrant candle or snacks.
5. A shapely glass jar with cotton wool can be arranged with soap or dispensers, face washers, a candle and a plant in the bathroom.
Changing décor on a tray is a fun way to reflect the seasons. Mini pumpkins, grasses or faux autumn leaves would look amazing for Autumn. Here I have placed the runner underneath the tray and styled the beads and bird from the Spring 22 box.
